CALIFORNIA LICENSED ATTORNEY, FOCUS ON EQUINE LAW

Pat Wilson, 2013 Graduate

Something New

Pat Wilson graduated from the University of Virginia with a bachelor's degree in biology and a master's degree in computer science. She worked for many years for several universities managing IT systems before deciding to retire. Pat sought a new direction and decided that law school was an attractive opportunity to try something new.

She enrolled at Purdue Global Law School (formerly Concord Law School) in 2008.

"I went to law school not because I've always wanted to be a lawyer, but because it was time for me to do something different with my life. I had been retired for several years from computer science."

No Horsing Around

With her IT background, Pat came to law school with a plan that changed. "I thought I was going to be a patent attorney or do digital privacy law. But it turns out that really I decided I'd do something for myself."

One of Pat's passions is horses. "Purdue Global Law School is one of the few law schools in the country that has an equine law course. So, it's great."

Take Your Time

Pat enjoyed the customization of classes and schedules and the flexibility that Purdue Global Law School offered her. "It enables you to work at your own pace and get what you want out of it."

It was the perfect fit for her.

"I travel extensively. I'm never in one place for 8 weeks at a time. It just doesn't happen. So online was the only way I was going to get a legal education. I'm very grateful that I found Purdue Global Law School because it gave me the opportunity to keep traveling, have my life and exercise my brain in a way that I would have never been able to do otherwise."

Build Better Lives

Pat especially values how Purdue Global Law School made a new avenue available to her and the opportunity she now has to help other people along the way. "At this stage in my life I feel very fortunate that Purdue Global Law School has given me the wherewithal to give back to people. And I can actually make a difference and use all the things--all the fortunate circumstances I have--I can use them to better other people's lives."

Pat graduated with honors from Purdue Global Law School (formerly Concord Law School) in 2012.

A Trained Perspective

Pat already had a degree and many years of work experience, and she believes that Purdue Global Law School is a great option for people like her. "I got a fundamental knowledge of the law from Purdue Global Law School."

Her advice to other busy people who want to go to law school is straightforward.

"If law school is something that you've wanted to do, this is a great way to do it. It's not the typical brick-and-mortar school, but it is a great opportunity to go in and learn. I really believe that we got a great education."
